Through our work with Additive Manufacturing (AM), also known in the popular media as 3D printing, Materialise is bringing great ideas to life. We help put great products aimed at niche markets directly into the marketplace, and we also make the prototypes for products that are manufactured by the millions. What’s more, through our software, we enable others to do the same.
Our software is powering new innovations in biomedical research, helping others make discoveries that save lives. We are also taking patient-specific healthcare to new heights by working closely with surgeons for the planning and execution of complicated surgical procedures. Our surgical guides and the improved implants being created with our software are getting people back on their feet, and putting smiles back on patient’s faces.
Materialise is also putting the power of Additive Manufacturing into the hands of everyday people. With an easy-to-use online service, now anyone can create a truly customized object, whether they are experts at computer modeling or beginners who are discovering 3D printing for the first time. We have also challenged some of the world’s top designers to use this technology in the creation of an award winning line of 3D printed objects available for sale worldwide…or from our own store in Brussels, the world’s first store dedicated to 3D printed design.

About Materialise
With its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium, branches worldwide, and a staff of 800 and growing, Materialise has been playing an active role in the field of Additive Manufacturing (AM) since 1990. In addition to having the largest capacity of AM equipment in Europe, Materialise also enjoys a stellar reputation as a provider of innovative software solutions. Its aim is to create a better and healthier world through involvement in AM for industrial and medical applications, and by providing bio-medical and clinical solutions such as medical image processing and surgical simulations. With a strong team of motivated staff working together in an open, dynamic environment, Materialise is able to draw upon an extensive pool of experience and expertise in the realization of this aim.
In recognition of the many contributions Materialise has made to the AM industry over the years, Materialise CEO Fried Vancraen received the prestigious RTAM/SME Industry Achievement Award in May 2011.
The award was developed to recognize an individual, team or company for outstanding accomplishments that have had significant impact within the AM industry or in any industry through the application of AM technologies.

The Company Structure
For more than 20 years, Materialise has grown in leaps and bounds, venturing into new fields and expanding its range of services and software solutions. As of January 2011, the company consists of eight Business Units, allowing Materialise to better serve its diverse range of customers with a dedicated team and dedicated, high-level solutions in the fields of:
